If you have leftovers to reheat, but you don’t want to use the microwave due to health reasons, then the Instant Pot is the perfect solution for you!
The Instant Pot makes it quick and easy to reheat a variety of leftovers at once, without messing with 15 pots and pans on the stove.

As you probably already know, microwaving disturbs the chemical structure of food and kills the nutrition, and from an Ayurvedic perspective, it destroy’s your food’s vitality.
This Instant Pot method is very safe. Not only does it retain all of your food’s vitality and nutrition, it also keeps the food moist, and warms it up without the need for added fat.
Moist food is easier to digest. It’s pretty much as good as freshly cooked once it comes out of the Instant Pot.
Below are the steps for exactly how to reheat food in the Instant Pot.
Steps to reheat
1. Transfer the food that you wish to reheat into heat-proof containers, such as stainless steel or glass.
I love this stacking container, or this one, which allows you to reheat multiple different types of food at the same time.
These stacking containers come with a built-in trivet, which is something you need.
A trivet is something metal that you set inside the Instant Pot to suspend your food containers off the bottom of the inner pot.
The trivet protects your food from burning, and it protects your containers from potential damage.
I read that a trivet isn’t essential, so if you want to try this without a trivet you could. I just can’t guarantee the results.
2. Add at least 1 cup water to the Instant pot, then drop your food containers in, making sure they are sitting on the trivet.
If your food is really dry, add 1-2 tablespoons of water into the container to assist with reheating since foods tend to dry out in the refrigerator.
3. Insert the Instant Pot lid, and select PRESSURE COOK on high heat.
Start with 5 minutes on your timer, with 10 minutes to cool down before releasing any remaining pressure and opening the lid.
You could also use 10 minutes on your timer, with a quick release.
* If for any reason, your food is not hot enough, return it to the Instant Pot and select 2-3 additional minutes.
If you have time, you can also use KEEP WARM or SLOW COOK for 10+ minutes with the lid closed.
4. Remove the hot and ready food from the Instant Pot and add additional garnishes, such as salt, pepper, fresh lemon, fresh cilantro, etc.
5. Enjoy your healthy breakfast, lunch, or supper!
